I have stated on several social media outlets a thing that I truly believe: the United States will not get out from under Trumpism with elections. Between GOP purging, gerrymandering, and new Orange Troglodyte™ executive orders defunding CISA1 who protects electronic election integrity, and his straight up use of Russia’s election playbook234 well, I seriously doubt voting is going to be the saving grace a lot of Americans hope.
Here’s a little photo of a sexy statue at the MOMA in Paris eyeballing the Eiffel Tower to distract you.
Besides, the man has said that we will not need another election after this last one.5
I wonder what he meant?
That was sarcasm, people. I don’t wonder. I also heard him brag about his secret plan and blah, blah, blah.
Nah, you aren’t winning another election America.
La lune regarde Paris
“So how do we get out of this, Rudy?”
Well, person in my head, I only see two ways. One was made famous, ironically, by American Colonists circa 1776 and the other was used extensively by the French circa 1789. Yes, boys, girls, and beautiful humans in-between, violence is one option.
Now, I am not calling for or advocating violence. I am simply stating a fact: it is a quiver in the arsenal of the American people.
But a more pragmatic, less messy option is hurting billionaires in a less Luigi Mangione (be praised) sort of way; their pocketbook. It sounds silly, and way too easy, but hear me out.
The US stock markets are crumbling – NYSE, NASDAQ, and the S&P 500 are all way down since the inauguration. Even if you don’t know a thing about the stock market, you do know that billionaires love making more and more money above all things.
So losing more and more money makes their asses chaff.
You don’t have to trade stock to effectively hurt billionaire cunts. You just have to not buy the shit they sell. And be vocal about why your aren’t buying their shit.
The most adorable statues in Paris.
I had ChatGPT put together a list of alternatives (with the occasional minor tweak by yours truly):
Instead of Tesla (Elon Musk)
Alternatives:
• Ford – Produces EVs like the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning.
• Rivian – American EV startup focused on sustainability.
• Hyundai/Kia – Affordable, well-reviewed EVs like the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
Instead of X/Twitter (Elon Musk)
Alternatives:
• Mastodon – Decentralized, nonprofit social media.
• Bluesky – Jack Dorsey-backed alternative with a Twitter-like experience. Also, badass CEO who is going to be upcoming on my ongoing list of badass women for Women’s History Month.
• Threads – Instagram’s Twitter alternative (Meta-owned, but less Musk influence).
Instead of Amazon (Jeff Bezos)
Alternatives:
• Bookshop.org – Supports independent bookstores.
• ThriftBooks – Good for used books, keeps money out of Amazon’s hands.
• Etsy – Buy directly from small businesses.
• Local retailers – Many small businesses have online stores.
Instead of Big Banks (That Donate to GOP PACs)
Alternatives:
• Local Credit Unions – Member-owned and community-focused.
• Amalgamated Bank – A union-friendly, progressive bank.
• Aspiration – Green, socially responsible banking.
Instead of Walmart (Owned by the Walton Family, Major GOP Donors)
Alternatives:
• Costco – Pays workers better and has a more ethical supply chain.
• Target – Mixed record but leans more progressive than Walmart. But eww.
• Local grocery stores & co-ops – Keeps money in your community.
Instead of Home Depot (Co-founder Bernie Marcus is a Huge Trump Donor)
Alternatives:
• Lowe’s – Not perfect, but their CEO has distanced himself from Trump donations.
• Local hardware stores – Ace Hardware is often locally owned.
Instead of Trump Hotels (Obviously)
Alternatives:
• Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt – None are perfect, but less directly tied to Trump.
• Boutique hotels & VRBOs – Support smaller businesses instead.
Instead of Watching NewsCorp Media (Fox News, NY Post, WSJ)
Alternatives:
• BBC, NPR, AP, Reuters – More neutral, fact-based reporting.
• ProPublica – Investigative journalism with a progressive slant.
• The Guardian – Independent journalism with no billionaire owner.
This list is by no means exhaustive, but it gives you a good place to start. Purse-string diplomacy is the only real option short of all-out revolt, from what I can see.
And if you’re ever unsure or want more information on where a company, billionaire, or CEO is directing their political donations, I recommend OpenSecrets.org as a great resource to track how politicians are being bought—and by whom.
I think that’s enough information for today, boys, girls, and beautiful people in between. If you’ve appreciated this, please consider subscribing. If you loved this, please consider a paid subscription.
Here comes my ride. I must be going.
