Shit! I woke up and got right to work on a website for my aunt’s notary business that I forgot to write anything. Then I started melting because apparently I am going through man-o-pause and got up to turn on the AC.
I feel like I’m forgetting something.
Sat back down and got back to work. Went to link aunt’s facebook page to her website when I saw my buddy posted a new song for his band and that made my brain try really hard to remind me that I was supposed to be doing something.
What the hell am I forgetting? Laundry? No, I started that already.
Oh yeah, I haven’t written anything!
I forget things a lot anymore.
It rained last night. A glorious downpour that would make Gene Kelly’s heart twirl. But then came 0100 in the morning and Dexter needed to go out one last time before bed. He abhors the rain. Says it frizzes his fur, or some shit. He’s a vain little twat.
Anyway, I am standing there holding an umbrella over his majesty while he pees and I get wet like a trained manservant. Suddenly, the sky lights up like it’s la fête nationale and a moment later the whole block rumbles. Now his majesty is shaking from the anxiety, but he is mid-stream so he can’t just stop. I may have taken a little joy from his misery as I stood there soaked.
He ran to the end of his lead trying to get back to the apartment. I had to slow him down because a woman was entering our building and I didn’t want to make her uncomfortable following behind here without using my fob. His majesty looked at me like I was a dick, but we waited til the door locked and I made a big gesture of using my fob. The look on her face told me I did right. She went from startled to relieved in a second, then held the inside door for us.
Merci, bonne soiree.
I took his heinous upstairs and put him to bed. Then I sat outside on my deck as the rain poured down thinking how fortunate I am that this has become my life. Across the street, one level above mine another man was standing out on his balcony taking it all in. There was a knowing smile and nod shared as we heard young women giggling and running through the rain.
This city is magic.
