I’ve been thinking about this since I got your message on my birthday.
I love you, cuz, but I love the distance between us. I don’t know why you decided a shit father, rapist, racist, business cheating, draft dodging cunt was the type of man you wanted to hitch your wagon to, but you do you. As for me; I just don’t have the energy or bandwidth to waste energy on a proud pendejo for Trump. Too many people I love are already being hurt by his administration. Like so many of us told you they would be.
It’s not just about politics, it’s about basic human decency and respect for the marginalized. Your dude punches down so goddamn always.
More than that, you “i still love you” rings hollow. Love is a verb; an act by the speaker. And it’s not love to consistently vote for a man who sees me as less than. A man who would shit on my service, the service of my wife. A man who is doing his damndest to take away the healthcare that is keeping another of our cousins alive. A man who sees your own daughter as a second class citizen – unless, of course, he sees her as fuckable. Then he’ll just move on her like a… well, you know the rest of what he said.
Once upon a time I swore an oath to the Constitution. It’s an oath I still hold sacred and dear. He’s using the constitution to wipe his orange ass. So nah, you can go ahead and live your best life, just leave me out of it. I’ll see you at family reunions or whatever.
